My name is Hans N. Spear.  I was eighty years of age in December of last year.  My wife and I moved here to Tucson six years ago after living in Chicago for some 53 years.  About thirty years ago, I was diagnosed by an orthopedic surgeon in Chicago to have a herniated fourth lumbar disk.  No surgery was recommended, I had a custom fitted corset made and was given some muscle relaxant medicine.  Off and on I suffered back pains.  In December of last year, 1998, I lifted something heavy the wrong way and I got a bad back pain.  I lied on a heating pad in bed and I suffered for a few days.  I had never been to a Chiropractic Doctor and seeing there is an office just about across the street from our home, I said to myself "Why not?".  I introduced myself to Doctor Jeff Peterson and I informed him of the above.  He took x-rays of my back and then showed me them and explained to me that now, no doubt of advanced age, not only the fourth but also the fifth and sixth lumbar disks are affected.  He then proceeded to treat me and after just a few visits I felt relief of pain which after a few more visits the pain totally disappeared.  I do not presume to set myself up to be a judge of medical doctors, but permit me to say this:  Doctor Peterson is a very caring, kind and yes above all very efficient Doctor, as the old saying goes, the proof of the pudding is in the eating.  I am pain free and have been so for several weeks, thanks to Doctor Peterson's expertise in his field and his kindness and caring.  I am not only very grateful to Doctor Peterson but I recommend his services to anyone who is in need the way I was.

In April of this year I hurt my lower back.  By the first of June I could not stand on my feet without severe pain in my lower back and legs.  I could not stand long enough to cook, grocery shop or hardly anything.  I went to my medical physician.  He sent me to a physical therapist for three treatments per week for four weeks.  I received no pain relief at all from these treatments.  I returned to my physician.  He advised me that I could have back surgery or learn to live with my back pain.  I was not satisfied with this answer.  Dr. Jeffrey Peterson was recommended to me.  After great thought I decided to make an appointment with Dr. Peterson in August.  After three weeks of chiropractic adjustments, there was great improvement in my back and leg pain.  After five weeks of adjustments, I have absolutely no back or leg pain whatsoever.  I can now perform all my normal daily activities that I could do before I hurt my back.

As your patient over the past 6 weeks, I want to thank you for giving my mobility back to me.  Prior to that I had spent the month of August, 2005, in bed and on crutches with severe pain in my right leg on strong pain killers and taking tests for possible surgery.  X-rays, and M.R.I. and a bone scan of the lower back were all negative as to the possible cause of the problem.  The surgeon suggested another M.R.I. of the upper back under the direction of the "spine unit".  I subsequently received a phone call from a friend with similar pain, who had received treatments at Superior Chiropractic with positive results.  This was the alternative I was looking for, in place of another M.R.I. and the possibility of invasive surgery if a cause was found.

After the first nine treatments, the crutches and all pain medication was discarded, and I was completely cured and back to normal after the 18th treatment.

Dear Jeff,

Jeff, thank you so much for working on Max - he is a changed baby!  He got a cold shortly after we got back, which made him a little cranky, but other than that he's been smiling and happy.  I had several people comment on how much better he was looking - more alert, better color - and we have you to thank.  I'm just sorry that more new parents aren't told about how much chiropractic care can help their baby.
